'Lets get Fruity' Tropicana Australia Day Party

'Lets get Fruity' Tropicana Australia Day Party

It’s been a jam-packed quarter for S|LC! We’ve been pulling out all the stops with some major events, styling and conceptual development, as well as collaborating with some great brands and businesses along the way.

It was hard deciding what project to feature in our latest ‘Round Up’, but one of our favourites has to be the Tropicana Party. In the spirit of Australia Day we threw a ‘Let’s get Fruity’ Party for Skwosh Club.

Skwosh is the hottest new swimwear label, which embodies the spirit of summer through their fun Australian swim trunk designs. Founded by friends Adam Walsh, Jack Watts and Jack Turner, the team brings a fresh take on traditional swimwear designs, with pastel colours and bespoke patterns inspired by tropical fruit and hot summer days.

Skwosh is all about fruit, fun and sun! It’s this vision that inspired our concept and what better way than to throw the ultimate summer soiree on one of the most festive days of summer…Australia Day!

The party encompassed all things summer featuring the SS18 collection including a full house of media, VIPs and influencers. Guests received a pair of trunks or bathers to wear at the event, ensuring the party was full of colour and fun bold fruity prints to set the vibe for the party. Guests celebrated with PIMMS and Rosé from a can, inflatable beach balls and tunes from DJ Total Giovanni, plus some other hot DJ talent.

S|LC worked closely with PR agency OneTwo to ensure the party was on brand and a huge success for all. Tessa-Jay Slight, Director / Co-Founder answered a few questions for us…

How / when did the boys start Skwosh?

Adam Walsh, Jack Watts & Jack Turner launched their brand SKWOSH in December 2015 with their first range of men's swim trunks inspired by tropical fruit, bright colours and hot summer days.

How did the boys come up with the concept of Skwosh?

They noticed there was a serious gap in the market for swim trunks for Aussie guys that looked good, were comfortable and versatile to any setting, so they decided to do something about it and got together to create SKWOSH. Adam Walsh is their business & marketing guru, Jack Turner is their creative & head of design and Jack Watts is their charismatic salesman and networker.

How does Jack juggle football with the new business venture?

It's really important for Jack to have balance in his life and having a project to focus on away from the footy field has been very valuable.

What was the inspiration behind having the event / party?

SKWOSH hosted the consumer & VIP / Influencer / media party to celebrate Australia Day while showcasing the SKWOSH SS18 collection.

What were their thoughts with the event and working with S| LC?

Loved it! We thought the creative minds all working together to bring the event together worked really well creating a great result!

What was the thought process behind the symbol repeated on the swimwear collection and the meaning behind them?

As mentioned above, we noticed that while there are many options in men's swimwear, there is a gap in the market for swim trunks for Aussie guys that look good & are comfortable to take from the beach to a bar. Each season SKWOSH creates a different collection of limited edition trunks in vibrant shades & tropical prints designed by one of the SKWOSH owners Jack Turner.
